40 Cards, 3 Days, Wow

PSA has really stepped it up on this special. I sent in 40 cards, they were received the 12th, and the grades were posted already today. Incredible. Kudos to PSA for this speedy grading.

Incase anyone is wondering, it's invoice 4096857, zip code 18103.

Did as well as I anticipated on this order, thankfully avoiding the grader of death for the most part. If anyone needs a 1974 PSA 8 Munson, I'm looking to trade it.

IAN - You got some nice grades, and some all over the place from PSA-5 to 9 and an "oc"
Its always nice to get the grades and match them to what you expect, and hope they meet or exceed your expectations.
PSA's turnaround lately is fantastic, my last order took 4 days from them receiving to shipping last week, my current one
was rec'd on Jan 13th, I'm getting spoiled figuring it may be ready tomorrowimage ...jay
  • I sure hope mine are graded as quickly- I sent in 24 1973 Topps BB cards and a 1980 magic johnson rookie (not the magic/erving/bird, but a good one) to fill out the order. Received 1/13, perhaps the grades'll be up tomorrow.

I just sent in 500. I hope my order gets in before they get buried with orders.
  • I hope they take their time with mine and give me the benefit of the doubt on a few, for a change. Almost all are going in my registry sets anyway. I just got a 1965 card in the mail I had won on ebay and it's a slider 8 for sure. Scan looked nice, but if all my 7's got the same benefit of the doubt, they'd be 8's.

Nice invoice Frank. I don't pull that many 9s when I take the best of the best of the best pulled directly from packs. You must have come across a nice lot of '75s.
  • Frank - All I have to say is, WOW.

Jay - Yeah, I expected the 6 on the Ryan, 7 on the Bench and I asked for NQ but still got the 8 OC on the Winfield, lol. I do not have any idea how the 5 happened, but I always seem to let one 5 slip by as well as a 6 or 7 when I submit 1974s. If anyone could use any of those 75s, I would be happy to trade mine for 74s.

That "Hamburger Head" thing is Mayor McCheese from McDonalds Land fame. He was on the glasses that McDonalds gave away in the mid 70s that were all painted with lead paint. Of course we wouldn't expect the Burger "King" to know who he is. Just kidding of course!

  • << <i>Hey Ian....What is that "Hamburger Head" thing..??? >>

    That's Mayor McCheese.

They don't serve beer at McD's, so you wouldn't know about him King Kellogg image

    invoice
got my grades yesterday on some opc orr cards and a couple crack outs. 3 day turnaround on a 5day special. image

the kemp was a bccg crack out , that's what I, get but the card looked really nice. I will take another look when it gets back.

the sayers was a crackout of a psa7 (consistency) that I submitted about a year ago, card has awesome centering so I took a shot going for an 8.

the highlight of the invoice is the 72 opc orr, I bought that raw from mickey's . awesome card, thanks Mick!
the others are what I thought but I blew it on the 74 norris, I don't have on egraded and need it anyway so I guess I didn't look to closely

the 71 all star is due to centering, and the 74 is nice with a bad corner but tough to find so I sent it in to fill the whole for now.

the 74 topps leader was a pgs 8 crackout , who the heck is pgs but it was a nice deserving card and only cost me $2.

all the opc cards with the exception of the 72 were bought raw from gerry's.

keep posting the invoices it's great to see what everyone is up to:D

  • Anyone get any results yet today? Holding out mild hope that my grades will be up before the weekend.
  • Larry,

Definately Mayor McCheese, one of the forgotten characters of McDonald's lure. Served as Mayor over the likes of Ronald McDonald and Grimmice. Thanks for the info Rob, I have some cool McDonald's stuff that my mom used to get for me when I was younger and she was a manager there, and he popped up every now and then on the things and was just a silly favorite and inside joke to my family. A lot of the McDonald's and products produced in the 1970's seem to have McCheese depicted on them, he seemed to dissappear as the 80's moved in, just from guessing at the books my mom has about McDonald's, the things she has, etc.

  • Oh, by the way, I found this nice group photo of the McDonaldland Crew on a website.

    From left to right...

The Professor, Captain Crook (Hamburgler's accomplish that showed up now and then), Mayor McCheese, the little things that look like car wash accessories are the Fry Guys/Girls, Ronald McDonald, Grimmice, The Hamburgler, Big Mac (the cheif of police in McDonaldland), and another Fry Guy/Girl.

1 card dropoff at PSA Saturday. Received 1/12. Grade posted today.
'60 Lake to Lake Braves Red Schoendienst crossed from SCDA 9 to PSA 9. The card was gorgeous. My main reason for crossing it was that the SCD slab arrived badly cracked due to a bad packaging job. The seller will get a positive feedback with the devil in the details.
