Where to find a 10Xviewing loop?

Anyone know where to purchase a 10X viewing loop to look at corners of cards up close?

I tried MJ roop and BCW supplies and found nothing.

Any help would be appreciated!

  • I just checked Ebay, and had 375 hits for 10x loupe. Seems you should be able to find one you like.

  • They have them on ebay and i know Levi Bleam from www.707sportscards.com used to sell special loupes that had a scale in them to determine a cards centering very useful and very hi quality. i would check with him to see if he still has any available.image
  • Thanks!

I am so used to searching for cards on ebay it never occured to me to look for the loop there.

I hope that I can find a nice "raw" one or maybe one that will guarantee a PRO 9 grade.

You can get them at any good camera store- Agfa loupes are cheap, I know they make 8x and should make higher magnifications. There is also a folding loupe used for linen thread counts- it has a scale marks on the sides. Try a good yardage store.
I'm sure you can find them on ebay as well, I just hate paying $5 shipping on a $9 item.

  • Try your local coin shop. They should have a nice selection of high mag devices and they are relatively cheap. They will also be able to give you some guidelines on what you want to use it for and which one might be best. They should also let you try it out.
I have a 10X and the focal point is very very short (you have to be right on top of the darn thing to have a chance to see it). I also have a nice dual lens lighted magnifier that I use which is 4X with an 8X window that I got at a coin shop for under $10. It has become the tool of choice.

PS. If you want to go with the big boys try "Stereo microscope". The price is high, the viewable image is small, the power is incredible and it comes in handy for bugs and other little things.

  • I bought mine from Levi. It is called a peak glass and this is what PSA uses. I think it cost $100.. HAs markings which make doing centering a breeze.... Jeff

I didn't see anything on Levi's website about this, so I emailed him for some info. Does anyone know what company makes the "peak glass", and if they have a website?
