Looking for info on 1956 T baseball red overprints

I have seen a couple of red overprints on auction before, and I was curious about them then. There is an auction (2780831261) going on this week with a strip of 3 overprints. Are the overprints legit? Any further information would be helpful.

There were some uncut sheets of these a few years ago -- most of them ended up at a chop shop artist who cut them up and had them graded by PRO as "red overprints" with high grades of course.

I've got a nice Phillies team card -- and since it was cheap, it seemed like a nice novelty to add. Legit -- but printer's scrap saved from the dumpster nonetheless.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I also collect stamps. In the world of stamps, overprints such as this usually command a premium. Mainly because of scarcity and collectors wanting to have a copy of everything that was printed. So, if I understand correctly, if an error is one that is sent out in packs, etc. to the general public, then it would probably have a premium. Printing errors that never get out, or were not intended to get out, do not generally have a premium. Are there any exceptions that you know of?
