A Random Red Copper Coin I Really Like!

Here's a random coin I'm quite fond of:
I may have posted this coin before but the images have improved vastly.
A 1916 Austrian heller in the somewhat more scarce Austrian Shield variety, KM 2823. Inspired by the lovely red color, this coin marked a milestone for me as it was the first coin I paid over Krasue value for: $25 vs. $17.50 catalog.

JohnZ's earlier thread that featured a few hellers reminded me I had some new pictures of this coin to post.

Come on over ... to The Dark Side!
. . . . or should I say, "nette rote Münze; sehr schön!" ya-ya!
I lucked out in finding this coin at a Long Beach show a year back. I was wandering the aisles and looking in cases when I came across a dealer who specialized in Latin American coinage (don't recall the name). Underneath his usual stuff was a single page of German looking coins which I asked to examine. As he described finding them on a recent vacation to Prague I could hardly contain my glee as I picked out the heller, an oh so close to uncircluated Charles VI 15 kreuzer, a nice 1913 Prussian 5 mark and an OK Gurk 20 kreuzer. Turned out to be one of my all time most productive stops!
As for the coin itself, the resolution of the image prevents seeing some minor flaws like a tiny ding in the field and a small carbon spot. Since it's the nicest example of an Imperial Austrian copper coin I've ever seen I decided to send it off to NGC where it's currently being graded, with the expectation of a grade of MS65RD. Once its back an intercept shield slab box awaits to hopefully keep it nice and original for the remainder of the days I own it.
Thanks for sharing the story of one of my favorite coins!

<< <i>My grades posted today and for anyone interested it went MS66RD. One tic higher than I expected but not an unreasonable grade.

You slab fiend, you!

Uh, exactly what does your new business deal in?
For those who dislike slabs just remember any coin in a slab is not in a PVC flip.

From "freetranlation.com":
"Priced, my good gentleman! It felled me very that another coin does not stand in PVC"
While I kind of get the sentiment, with translations like that I wonder if its really just a sales pitch for "notfreetranslation.com"
