Besides cards and memorabilia, what else has ebay introduced to you?

I never collected much besides cards... but after logging in six billion hours scouring eBay for cards, I ran across something else that excites me...
They are compact discs/albums remastered by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. ( MFSL )
I don't know the entire history and I am a true novice here...
but MFSL remastered a spattering of CD's across every genre...

They are long out of print since MFSL went out of business and some cds'albums sell for hundreds.

Some people collect the entire catalogue.

Many that I have bought in the $20-$45 range were well worth the extra cash... the remastering is quite phenomonal on some issues.

The exciting thing is that it appears that they are back in business as of recently making Hybrid sacd/redgualr cd.

If you like music... do an MFSL search on eBay.

Has anyone else found anything else cool through their searches?

I've found it really good for picking up books- like entire Time Life series, encyclopedias, etc Often the shipping is more than the books themselves. Its sure much easier than going thru used book stores- too bad there wasn't an ebay when I was in college.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • Since being on ebay, I have put together a smallish (25 or so) collection of pre-1920 picture postcards of scenes/buildings/etc from my hometown...a little town in Illinois with a population under 4,000. I didnt even know they existed. Kind of silly, but neat... to me anyway.

  • Vargha,

    Amen,brother!!!!

    Chandeliers,

I have bought two in the past.

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

Thanks for the memory -- I used to love MFSL discs -- The Alan Parson MFSL of the Edgar Allan Poe is still one of my favorites that I listen to over 10 years later!

  • Things I have bought from Ebay besides sportscards or memoribilia:

1- my wife's photography & darkroom equipment (everything)
2- many REAL Christmas presents for friends and family
3- books (most cheaper than Amazon.com)
4- Wiggles DVDs for my son!
    5- Music CDs
6- DVDs for Me and the wife (to watch when we are not forced
    to watch the Wiggles!

that is just off the top of my head,
but basically I ALWAYS check ebay first when making a purchase!

  • Fraud, thieves, and absurd shipping prices by many sellers. Oh, I forgot extortion ( Square Trade ). "If you pay us $20, we will remove your negative feedback". What a scam by Ebay. If the negative was left out of retaliation, they should remove it for free. I give them enough of my damn money.

    I LOVE EBAY!!

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

    I have 3 MFSL cd's (Rush's "2112", "Moving Pictures", & "Signals")
and I bought them years ago when they were still in print. Even
brand new those things cost $25, but I think they're worth it.
I also like how the cd's are gold & the cool cases that lift the
discs up when you open them. The best part is, as you said, the
mastering. The MFSL discs sound much "warmer", and give nearly
the same richness as a vinyl recording. I'll have to look into
getting a few more, not that you mention it. Maybe U2's Joshua Tree
    if it's not too expensive...

It didn't really introduce me to it, but eBay has definitely gotten me more interested in collecting concert posters.

I bought one of these a few months back. It is great for home or the office ...

    Who was that?

    I know, I know ......

But it is a great item to have around
collecting various PSA and SGC cards
  • eBay has introduced me to the wonderful world of buying recipes for $1.00 to prop up my feedback before I decide to scam people as a seller.

Back in the day, I used eBay to buy various human body parts. I'm into prop comedy, and nothing brings the house down like juggling two eyeballs and a liver ...

Actually, I have purchased books, software and a ghost in a jar. And some unfortunate woman whose husband had a heart attack sold me his entire, unsearched card collection (three words: 1988 Donruss galore).

    Great Post Debs.
  • It has introduced me to complete laziness. I no longer have to leave my chair to buy anything. Except for the postman who curses my name every time he has another package to deliver

Looking for 81-84 Topps Stickers in PSA 9 or better, 81 Topps Scratch offs, 83 Topps Fold outs in PSA 8 or better, 83 Fleer Stamps and 81/86 Fleer Star Stickers in PSA 9 or better.

I am on a tight budget right now, but I see the potential in ebay for buying a lot of the vintage action figures I want. Some I had as a kid, but they are no longer with me, and some I never had, but always wanted. They make a great display.

I am still looking for a mint condition MegoCrop Superman 1977. I see them on ebay, but I am waiting for that gem to come along.

Vintage (?) swizzle sticks, an orange glass pitcher-n-glasses set just like the Foreman's have on That '70s show, psychedelic Siouxsie and the Banshees posters that I used to have in college, a bronze Abraham Lincoln bust, and several dozen little home decor, tools, and gift items. But the biggest surprise was KGSR CDs. KGSR is an Austin radio station that puts out an annual live CD of mostly local artists that have become huge collectors items, unbeknownst to me. I stumbled across their fairly incredible prices while looking for other things. I bought the first three volumes basically for one or two songs each when they came out (though there's plenty of other good stuff on them). But I sold them for over $300. Without ebay that probably wouldn't have happened.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay

really? i have pretty much every copy of KGSR's cd's, along with KLBJ's local licks live, and KNACK's Homegrown series. i never knew people outside of Austin even knew what KGSR, let alone would pay money for any of the cds

Just think... you could sell all the KGSR cd's and have more
    money for cards!!
