    jonsey,

I bought the coin 10 years ago. The coin, aside from the print, which doesn't look as bad as the image implies, is very nice for the grade. A very original coin! To me, the print wasn't a reason not to buy the coin. I'd buy it again today, except I already own it. image For a while that is.

    That's my opinion. image

Maybe we can run that print through NCIC and catch the perp . . .

All kidding aside, that is a very nice coin, and one of the more interesting of the series. It has been suggested that the Open 3 variety was struck later to meet collector demands, but there are no records that I know of that would prove this. Your coin has very nice frost on the devices. I have the same coin in an NGC 65red holder.

    Dan,

Here is a link to the coin....1873 open 3 2c PCGS Proof 65 Red

As you stated, the print on the reverse is overstated in the image. The frost, color and originality of the coin is superb. I'd sure rather have this original Gem than a dipped coin....image
