eBay will be adding a new feature called Mutual Feedback Withdrawal....

<< <i>***Update: Member Profile***

Date: 01/12/04 Time: 06:05:23 PM PST

Over the next few days, eBay’s new Member Profile (previously known as "feedback profile") will be introduced to the site. Member Profile is a new hub that includes design changes to feedback aimed at making buying and selling decisions easier than ever. To learn more about the benefits of Member Profile or to take the tour, please see our 12/31/02 announcement.

In addition to the Member Profile enhancements, in the next few weeks eBay will be adding a new feature called Mutual Feedback Withdrawal. Mutual Feedback Withdrawal allows members to withdraw feedback on those occasions when they have worked out a dispute that caused a negative feedback. Stay tuned for more information on this new enhancement later this month.

Regards,

Sounds like an interesting concept. Wonder if there will be any fees associated with this feature?

Square Trade charges $20 to remove a neg.

Is this what we have been waiting for on ebay? Will this kill retaliatory feedback?

  • the new designed feedback page was there
on ebay for my feedback earlier today
then it went back to the old system.

while it was there, it was nice looking!
and I did notice they had a listing
    place for feedback "Mutually Removed"
so it would be cool if you could be removed,
it will be noted when it is.

  • DG is right....the only way to remove an undeserved negative to this point was through Square Trade which I always felt was like paying "protection" , but it is an evil necessity.

I availed myself of this service recently when an older woman let her nephew bid on a card of mine and he negged me two days after the purchase wondering where his card was. ( I'm sorry, my instant materializer ray isn't perfected yet )

The woman was very nice and cooperative and if this option was available, would have been perfect other than the $20 it cost to remove.

A fascinating benefit from Ebay if without charge.

....Probably not..both parties will have to agree to withdraw the neg.

  • Does this mean that if you give a neg and you get retaliatory feedback, you have to remove your original neg to get the other person to remove theirs? Sounds like a great way for trolls to extort feedback. Actually, the $20 allows you to get the feedback off regardless of cooperation from the offender in the first place. It's steep but it sounds like it might be better than this way...unless they offer them both, in which case more options are always better for a seller.
  • Mutual feedback removal is OK in cases where there was "Accidental" feedback left or where the parties have worked out a disagreement.

Unfortunately this will not end retaliatory feedback. Although I wouldn't be surprised if EBAY came up with a "Remove any feedback for $5 option". This would do the help out the important parts of ebay, making additional money from fees and allowing scam artists to keep scamming.
