MS I saw that earlier in a search and was wondering about it also. I wonder if a email to the seller asking what's the difference between a type 1,2 or 3 blank. tom
I'm trying to chime in but my browser won't cooperate
It refers to the type of blank - type 1 has no upset rim and type 2 has an upset rim. Some purists call a type one a "blank" and a type two a "planchet" but 99% of folks just call 'em all blank planchets.
So did I clear it up or just confuse it more?

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.
"Keep in mind that most of what passes as numismatic information is no more than tested opinion at best, and marketing blather at worst. However, I try to choose my words carefully, since I know that you guys are always watching." - Joe O'Connor
Blank and planchet are what I prefer, rather than Type 1 and Type 2. When it's punched out of the strip, it's a blank until it goes to the upset mill and gets its raised edge. It then becomes a planchet until struck by the dies.

<< <i>An error coin expert needs to chime in here. I know there are T1 T2 etc. blank planchets but I cannot remember what determines each. >>
