All I have to say is OUCH!

Okay,

I have been collecting this set for over 2 years. Tonight an Auction ended for a Hank Greenberg PSA 7 ended for $698.00. Here is the image

PSA 7 Greenberg

Now about 2 years ago I purchased this lot of cards for the whopping price of $620.26. Now some were raw but the Grennberg was graded as a PSA 7. 4 were not graded due to trimmiming and were noted by the seller. Here is the lot:

Walter Berger PSA 6 Raw submission
Henry Bonura PSA 6 Raw submission
Stan Bordagray PSA 5 Raw submission
Bill Brubaker PSA 7 Graded
Clydell Castleman PSA 5 Raw submission
Joe Coscarat PSA 5 Raw submission
Frank Crosetti PSA 6 Graded
Jimmy Dykes PSA 7 Raw submission
Rick Ferrell PSA 7 Graded
Lefty Gomez Trimmed Already Submitted
Hank Greenberg PSA 7 Graded
Frank Higgins PSA 6 Raw submission
Orel Hillebrand PSA 7 Graded
Pepper Martin PSA 6 Raw submission
Joe Vosmick PSA 5 Graded

In addition there were 3 other cards that I did not keep in history on that were trimmed already submitted that I sold off for about $25-$30 stating the cards were as such.

I bought all the cards above and I think my Greenberg is better to boot .

Here is the link to my current set.

Luxury's 36 Goudey Set.

Who knows what I could sell this set for? NO it is not for sale.

Is it just me or are we starting to see another price bounce in the market place? Is this just a hiccup I am seeing in the 36 Set or are prices finally to starting to come back up?

Nice. I have noticed strengthening across the board in sets I collect, just in the last two weeks. Maybe people don't have big Christmas bills this year?

It's Greenberg in a PSA holder
  • No, I think XMAS was a lot stronger than people realize. There are a flood of gift cards that are just begining to hit the stores....These are not counted in the holiday retail sales figures....I believe they only count as retail sales when someone buys something. I know I got about $600 in gift cards... and I asked people not to give me a lot this holiday.....

Murcer Fan I realize its Greenberg in a PSA holder, but this is more than 2x the last one I saw and SMR is $175( gee do we think SMR might be a tad bit low for this issue?). I am starting to see a few patterns in other sets as well.

  • Luxury - I think you're right on with that comment. It appears that cards are definitely headed into a resurgence. Might be a good time to unload some merchandise.
  • My 1966 Topps BB set still seems to enjoy lower than usual pricing (I say enjoy as I'm still working on the set). I can grab PSA 8 short print high cards for around $40.00 if I keep my eyes peeled. My Pete Rose Basic set saw just a hint of going up lately because of all the Rose hype, but nothing dramatic. 1964 and 1971 Roses still get a premium. I've been watching both sets for 7 months.

    1963T Dodgers in 8s
    Pre-war Brooklyn 5s or higher
