What does "disavow the grade" mean in numismatics?

Mostly out of curiosity, I made a point of being in the room when the 1963 PR70DCAM Lincoln went up for auction at the FUN Show. The simple statement that was made just before it went on the block -- "PCGS has announced it is disavowing the grade on the coin" -- certainly was exciting. But there was no explaination whatsoever what "disavow" means in this numismatic context.

Does it mean the coin developed problems in the holder and the PR70 grade is no longer valid?

Thanks;
