I saw that set it is missing the 20 mark.

There are a few other Goetz up for auction in New York I am interested in but I can not find anyone to check let lots out for me in person.

  • Cos..... I was shocked at the estimated sell price listed. $1 to $ 1,000,000.

Maybe shocked is wrong but I was surprised.

    $1 to $ 1,000,000

They put that on all the lots. Wishing thinking I expect.

The last coin world had an article on a forthcoming book which will deal with Goetz and some of his medals, specifically the sinking of the Lusitania. I'm sure all the Goetz afficianados are aware of it but my conscience won't rest if I don't mention it.image

Yeah, it's written by a guy by the name of greg Burns (I've had to bid against this guy before) and you can find more info about it at www.lusitaniamedal.com Yes, the lusitania was an important medal but to single it out from Goetz' complete set or the satiricals at a minimum seems to do it more harm than good.

I just wrote to him asking about the book, availability, and price... I'll let you know what he has to say. S

Let me know what Greg says Scott. He's in the same coin club I am and I'll probably see him next Friday. I'm scheduled to speak on the "Changing Face of Napoleon in Metal", which might chase people away in droves... image
