FUN show report day one

mongoose using rhound account:
We survived day one of a lively bourse. The opening ceremonies were mercifully short, and we hit the floor at opening. Crowd seemed good for first day, considering it IS a weekday. There was a seperate section for most World and Ancients, though there were some additional dealers with Darkside coins spread throughout the bourse.
Quality British copper was in short supply, and there were numerous foreigners here buying. Out of the 5 coins that I was looking for, I found one in a condition that I found satisfactory, and I found two of that same coin, an UNC Wm IIII farthing, full luster. I could not find any gemmy Vic young head copper 1/4d anywhere today, though NorthEast Numismatics did have one in at PCGS, I hope to view it tomorrow.
I did find a few coins with nice eye appeal, not sure which will be for the eye-popper giveaway. I bought a new Spink, a 31st editon Krause, and probably 10 coins today.
It was a pleasure meeting Dan (Danglen) today, and I did see a number of forum members though I didn't introduce myself. Tomorrow we hope to see a bunch of Darksiders rolling in, and will also have LordMarcovan, ajja. Mrs. ajaan, and Aethelred hanging with us.
spinaker and rhound will follow with their observations.

Not a bad show at all, founds some nice darks side stuff, got a nice young head crown, and a few other peices. A very nice 1855 IP, alsmot proof llike.... My focus is not as narrow as Joe and Terry, so I ended up buying about 25+ coins, mostly GB.....
Oh yeah, on the plus side I sold 4 Lite Side peices, now I can buy many more darks side.....
Hope to meet some new faces tomorrow, tired of the old ones....
My hubby and I are planning on leaving Jax around 8 or so to head down there. We will spend the day, until around 3:30 or so, then head back home. Hope to meet up with some of you there.

Also added alot to the British and German type sets. By Saturday I was pretty well coined out, only picked up a few coins one of which was a nicely toned proof 1 Mark of 1905 from a German dealer.....
You will probably see more in a few days after I am back home and off this hotel dial up connection.
Cheers, Glenn
