...And they accept PayPal as well.

  • Well Carlos, since I only live about 40 miles away from this one, I'll be attending.

Hope to meet some of the people on this board.

I am hoping that I can attend this year's National. Being from NY, the trip to AC was a breeze last year. Not so sure about Cleveland but I think I can do it. I was actually thinking about getting a hotel relatively soon close to the site. Then I came to the boards and saw I was not the only one anticipating the event.

Anybody know if the Indians are in town that weekend?
  • Anyone here got suggestions on the best/closest/suggested hotel?
  • Yes - Starting Wednesday they play the Chicago White Sox and then on the weekend they play the Kansas City Royals.

If anyone from the Louisville, KY area wants to ride with me, I may attend for a day or 2.

    Loves me some shiny!
  • It's ironic that the Royals were in town the last time Cleveland hosted the National. I will be there as I haven't missed a National in 7 years.

  • I really want to attend, but can not
    commit just yet.
Do you think that if I get 2 VIP passes
and end up not needing them
    that I could sell them?

do these ever sell out or anything?

I was thinking of possibly stopping in Canton on thursday to walk through the HOF. Let me know if anyone wants to meet me there. I dont think its too far out of my way.

BTW. I just made my reservations online with red roof inn (3 miles away)

    Big Kid-

I do not believe the VIP passes will sell out....they can always use the $$$.

    Davemri-

The Football HOF is approx 1 15 minutes drive from the IX center (all highway miles)..so give or take 10 min. If you go during the day...it should be less as you would avoid rush hour traffic around Akron.

  • I'm going this year as Cleveland isn't that far from me. My first national and I can't wait to check it out and meet some people from here.

I really want to go too. I'm not sure if I can though with work. I got a lot of grief this past
summer taking off when our Ernst & Young auditors were in town. And they are scheduled
to come out the same time this year. I still think I'll risk the abuse from work and try to
get there Thursday and Friday. Who cares about them auditors?!!image

The more I think about it I got to laugh. I run the audit and I wasn't there the last two days.
    Lol! For baseball cards too....

Last time I worked around the clock the first three days of that week to wrap up some
work they needed. We were really finished. Stuff happens though...especially when you
    are away... We'll see.

I am in for sure.We need to plan a BIG dinner party this year for sure.I missed the last oneimageand had hoped to spend more time with the guys on the boards. The luncheon was great but too short. We should try to get a group up for a game and make a night of it.That would be a blast.I have already arranged my vacation aroung the trip up.I just had to lay down the law to the bossimageNow all I have to do is start saving and spend the next 6 months groveling so that I can actually spend 3 days of our vacation at the show.image

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

Someone said that the Indians plan on giving away tickets this year to get people to come to the games...they are pretty desperate image
  • Tough call for me right now. Would love to go, and have the parents' permission, but The Pennsylvania Governor's School of Creative Writing application is pending right now. Future career or baseball cards? It is a tough call. The Governor's School is a 35 day program during the summer, pretty exclusive too. Only twenty students get in in the field of Creative Writing. I think I have 1:100 odds of getting in, which makes me think that I should go ahead and book a room. However, I know the moment I do that, I'll get accepted for the school.

This is worse than any tryout I've ever been apart of for sports, because I always was confident in those areas. This school though looks incredible on college applicantions, especially ones who plan to be Journalists or Broadcast Journalists like myself. First cut comes in February, final cut in April.

Hoping to find a way to go to the Governor's School and the National...

Unfortunately though, the application for the school clearly stated "All references will be discarded."

That might work if I put in an application for the "Klinic On Kellogg's Kards" though.

  • I've decided to attend the National too! However, I see no rush to buy the VIP tickets since they never run out of them. I have some questions for those who have bought the VIP package in past years: How much earlier in the morning do they let you in than the regular public? What is the "exclusive premier club lounge"?

I don't collect autographs, so any free autographs in the VIP package won't interest me unless one is for my all-time beloved sports idol, Ohio's own Pete Rose.

The "Gift Package," won't interest me either, if it's similar to last year's. I'll give it away to a fellow Registry member too.

What day and time were the Registry luncheon and informal Registry dinner held last year?

My main purposes for attending would be (a) to meet the PSA staff and fellow Registry members, (b) to attend the Superior auction and perhaps bid for something in person -- something that I have never done, and (c) to pick up a few graded cards. I hope the floors are not totally crammed with people so it's hard to move. Is that the case with these Nationals?
