Check out the turnaround on this PSA Order

Some were saying that the cards from the January ($5.00) special would be turning up in about a month.

On Saturday I sent my cards, they got them on Monday and today (Wednesday) they were graded and I have been told shipped.

Check this out.

Order number is 9018663 and the zip is 44024

PSA $5.00 Special

Now that I've posted this, it will probably take 3 months for the others. Just kidding, but wow am I impressed.

  • Wow. I've been procrastinating on my submissions. Better get on it this weekend!

    PS. Congrats on the 10s!
  • Wow!! That's about the best turnaround I've ever seen. Unfortunately, my next submission will most likely arrive with the onslaught of submissions in the next few weeks and grades will probably post around the 1st of March. Oh well. image

My submissions for the special arrived a day after Dale's so hopefully they will be ready tomorrow, although I highly doubt it.

    DALE - were you happy w/ your grades?, 3 PSA-10's and the rest split w/ 8's & 9's ...jay

    Dale:

Nice turnaround for sure! Any of those cards upgrades for you? Three tens isn't bad. How about the rest--about what you expected?

    spack
  • The three 10's were all upgrades.

I did upgrade quite a few 8's to 9's, so that helped.

The rest were variation cards, which are hard to find in great shape. So, I was happy with the 8's on some of them.

They did screw up a few of the variation cards when I went back and checked my copy of the submission. They didn't label them right, so I'll have to send them back as "Mechanical Errors."

    The Tug McGraw was a Game Saver Card, not a Pitcher Card;
    The Ron Cey was a Small Finger on Back, not a regular Card;
    The Bill Bonham was a Small Finger on Back, not a regular Card;

Those were the three that they missed on which I was going to enter into the 81 Fleer Master Set.

But, Mechanical Errors are fixed at no cost and no shipping.

  • I have a 2003 topps heritage chrome set I would like to get slabbed. It is not in the regisrty. Can I send these cards in under this special and try to get the set put on the registry? Or does the set have to be there first?

    lmk,

    Thanks,

    Glenn,

Sweet set...yes you can send them in without a set there right now...I would write a little note saying that you have contacted BJ to set up the set and are excited about adding them to the registry.

    John
  • Well that leads me to my next question. How do you set up the weights and get the set registered.

    Thanks,

    Glen
  • BasiloneBasilone Posts: 2,492 ✭✭
for the purpose of the 2003 heritage chrome set...you could either a.) not weight the set at all or b.) weight the set based on Beckett pricing.

Since your set is going to have a limited amount of collectors and is brand new...I wouldnt worry about the weight issue.

Here is the email to ask them to set up the set....it will help speed up the process if you could provide them with a accurate checklist.

    Dale,

Do you think this is rare for 80's, single issue submissions? Every order I've sent in from the 80's has taken 1-7 business days after being received. It's those damn $10/10 day specials where PSA takes all 10 business days to grade it.

I sent two bulk orders in on consecutive Mondays last year. The thought was I would get two days of excitement, instead of putting all cards on one submission. Both orders were received on the Thursday of their respective week. On the Friday after the second submission was received, I checked the first submission and it was done. I figured while I was their I'd check the second submission, and sure enough it was done! 6 day and 1 day turnaround. So my two days of excitement turned into one anyway.image

Currently collecting.....your guess is as good as mine.

  • Dale,

Great turnaround and results. Now if I could only get results like that with my 56'simage

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.
  • Hmm, sure hope I get nice turnaround like this- I'm sending in my first big submission batch tomorrow of some real nice gems from my raw 1973 set, and although I spent a good few hours picking them out, they could really end up anywhere along the spectrum of 7-9 (with a few tens possible, perhaps).

well i just got a quickie too.
it was on the 5 day special though.
in on tuesday, out on thursday.
........and I must say that these grades are just about what was expected.

I don't want to open up a can of worms here, but when I professed great customer service at GAI due to 5-7 day turnaround times (which I still get btw), the reply I got from many PSA guys was "must be slow business at GAI to get your cards back that fast, I'd stay away from them if business is that slow", etc., etc.,

So which is it now...slow business at PSA or good customer service. I will assume the latter. And that goes with any grading company at there (PSA, SGC, GAI, BGS, etc.)

hey grillo, how do you get good service at GAI? I have had packs that the grades were posted 3 weeks ago and they are still not sealed, I am not the only one this is happening to. I have supported GAI but I am completely annoyed with their service which is why I don't see them as a viable alternative. I send them emails with questions , they don't answer them . how the heck does it take 3 weeks or more to get something shipped when they are already graded? I have another large group of stuff I was going to send but it's sitting here waiting for them to get the last order out. their service is completely unacceptable. I was going to send some cards to se how they worked but how can I with this service?
  • PackCollector...I have never submitted packs to them so maybe there is a problem or a different process that occurs with grading packs versus cards. I have sent numerous orders and all have come back to me in hand within 2-3 weeks after their receipt.

Mike Baker or Danny Fisher always respond to my emails. But Danny is the best person to contact as far as customer service related questions are concerned. Have you tried Danny? His email is:
    dfisher@gacard.net.

I hope this helps...I agree you should get better service for your wax packs.

I have sent in probably 10 different orders. 1 order they missed the turnaround time so I got 20 freegrades when they 1st started. The other orders were good and turned out in 2-3 weeks. I have seen most of the problems since they changed the pricing structure. It has happened on my order and 2 other orders of a friend of mine. I usual email Howand kent . I will try Danny. it is just frustrating.

I know you have your issues with PSA but I have know complaints on their process.

Cards come in and are logged the day they are received. (My last order to gai was in on thursday and logged on tuesday without any holidays)
you get an email when received, when grades are posted and when shipped. I was told global was going to do this but it hasn't happened.

Cards ship the same day or day after the grades post if it is late in the day.

Thats the service I think we all deserve since we are supporting the product and providing the revenue stream.

In the past, I've sent 2 submissions on the same day, one is graded in 5 days and the other in 30 days. There is no predicting it.

Glen, as for your question, I completely abuse all the registry specials with no problems. I send in whatever cards I want (as long as the years meet their criteria) and they grade them all under the special. I don't ever register a set and just resell them all on Ebay. I figure they will probably go into somebody's registered set so it's all the same. Plus the specials always say dealer submissions welcome so I don't think they care either way.

I just got grades posted on a 33 card invoice submitted on the 30 day football special.
cards were recieved by PSA 3 days ago and already shipped today.
    image
the grades on all 30 Bowman Smalls were right down the line, not a single one was more than 1/2 grade off from what i graded, some up some down, but i use half grades.
I also had 3 '55 all-americans that were all broken out of SGC 7.5 holders and each one recieved PSA 8.
they were not cherry picked 7.5's , but bought cheaply off e-bay as I expected they wopuld not be up snuff for PSA 8.

Way to go PSA....now just keep up the accurate grading
  • Personally i've found time varies greatly on submissions, i have an invoice at (PSA) from 12/24/03, 25 cards @ modern service, thats still not done, i sent one in a week later (20 cards @ same modern service) thats already coming back !?!? so its anyones guess as to the rhyme or reasoning behind this.....good luck to everyone grading in the New Year !! ......predicting many 10's for us all.......

    Andrew
  • PSA has it's moments when the bulk orders can take less than 3 weeks. I've noticed a few times when this happened, I got better than expected grades. Maybe when they look at the card too long, they start finding more flaws.

if you send in say 50 1976 topps you will get them back faster. if you send in say 4 1990 topps mini gold refractors numbered to 150,1 1983 topps stickers,1 1987 hostess twinkies and so on they have to look this stuff up so it takes longer. they can rip through an order of 81 fleers or 75 topps because there is nothing to it.

Got my grades back from my submissions that they rec'd on the 6th. 3 day turnaround for the 1970's special.
    Submitted 44 1972 Hockey, rec'd 12 PSA-9's, 27 PSA-8's & 5 PSA-7's - Grades were pretty consistent, I figured
25% 9's and 75% 8's - didn't think I had any 7 quality cards, but it was minimal, and the quick turnaround time
    compensates for those few 7's...jay
Submission Results for those who are curious
  • You know, I already got my grades today, when they received my cards on the 6th. However, I requested the Economy service (35 days @ $8), but they said they already shipped it. Is someone at PSA goofing off?image Or am I lucky (BTW, I sent in only three cards)?

Jay, it's nice to see that the 72s that I sold you turned out as good as I thought they would. Congratulations!! They finally came up with the $5 special that we've been waiting for. These should put your set at about 50%, good luck with the rest! STEVE.
  • qualitycardsqualitycards Posts: 2,811 ✭✭✭
Steve - With the few that I landed already graded via eBay the set will be exactly 50% - good estimation.
And through another board member who had some ungraded ones for sale. (He sold them prior to my request)
He turned me on to a dealer in Michigan that had some nice cards too! 24 different (some that were dupes from you).
I edited down to the ones that a thought were a lock of 8 or higher and submitted them. Hopefully, the 70's special
will bring out more of these to PSA, and I can fill in the remaining slots. Its been barren on eBay of late, and no fun
if you can't add to the set. Thanks for your help, and to think my whole set started when I won your bulk PSA-8 lot on eBay...jay
