Anyone working on some pretty spectacular either by sheer number of cards or a pretty high profile player (Mantle, Mays, Williams etc)?
Eddie Murray, Will Clark and Darin Erstad collector, check my wantlists for what I need.

I collect Gwynns and I only have about 100-150 of his cards (which actually covers most of his pre 1996 offerings) but after the whole 'chase' craze, I've given up all hope of getting all of his cards.
My heroes were mostly Cleveland Indians Players.
So, yes I'm working on a Gaylord Perry Master Set. He sent me a signed postcard after I sent him a letter back in 1973, which I'll treasure forever.
I'm currently working on a Mel Harder Set. I've accumulated alot of raw stuff, some that can be graded and some that can't. He lived in my home town and I have some very nice pictures of him and my son, when my son was around 2 or 3. He was a hero of mine, cause we sat down and talked about Ruth, Gehrig, Connie Mack, Bill Veeck, Joe DiMaggio, etc. I always wanted to sit down with him in the mid 90's and tape record what he remembered of those players who he played against in the early to mid 30's, plus being a coach with the Indians up to 47.
I kick myself in the but* for not doing it. I'm doing this one for the memories and what everyone else has said on this board, "Collect what you like."
1st Finest Set - 1981 Baseball Fleer Master - Retired
1st Finest Set - 1955 Baseball Golden Stamps - Cleveland Indians - Retired
1st Finest Set - Mel Harder Baseball Master - Active
Mel Harder Showcase Set - Active
#15 on Current Set Registry - 1972 Topps Baseball - Retired
#23 on All Time Set Registry - 1972 Topps Baseball - Retired
As far as what to add. The basic I tried to add a few from each company and all the topps issues. A few more need to be added and I will make a request. The master set is pretty much wide open any year the player was active. Only thing I dont care for is regional issues and promos in the set.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for anyone working on a master set of a star player who retired after ~1993 or is still active. The explosion of high-end and ultra-low print run material, to say nothing of the sheer volume of cards per year made of each star or the fact that even today not every card comes out of the pack in PSA-ready condition, has made this an ambitious endeavor.

I'll be taking advantage of the $5. and 25 card limit this whole month, I plan to submit at least 300 cards for this set registry. just to try and conquer this set. I know I'll never finish the set, but it will be fun to try. I'm currently ranked #8 and hopeing to be ranked #1 soon. Who evers there right now, just watch out I have a bulk submission ready to go to claim the #1 spot.

It really makes me wonder how players from the 80's on will keep a PSA following like the Mantle, Mays & Aaron collectors have today.

"I'm currently working on the Michael Jordan Master set, current number of cards in the set is 2574 and rising."
Wow! That must be the largest set available in the PSA Registry. I don't collect any player sets but am primarily a team collector. What I think is neat about being a team or player collector is that you can have cards from each set issued over a span of time and thus own a very wide variety of cards -- as opposed to someone who collects an entire set of, say, 600 or 700 cards where they all have the same design over and over again (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

I grew up on South Jersey, so the Phillies were my team. Carlton was always my favorite. He was like a machine out there in his prime. I do miss watching Dave Parker taking golf shots and totally missing Carlton's slider. It could hit the ground a foot in front of him and he'd still swing...

It's probably and exercise in futility, but I enjoy the chase and the feeling when you add another card and can say to yourself, "one more down, 1,000 more to go"
