Just one problem... once more it is in Russian, sorry about it image But you can navigate , using continets and after that just open country after country (I myself did it , when I hadn't Russian fonts in my PC) -- a lot of very good scans, which can be enlarged, plenty of "exotic contries coins!"

Neat! It would be a lot easier to navigate, though, if he had used Unicode fonts instead of Russian ones.

I'm still working on pulling together mine at numispedia.org (not working yet) maybe I could contact him and make it a joint project, English/Russian? Might need the help of a translator though image
  • I suppose he speaks English, Spoon!

Try to contact him. I'll very glad to see your site!imageimageimage

  • Great work , Spoon! image

I like the images of coins and also your site's organisation! Eager to see more coins from Saarland image Do you plan also images from other countries , or only from Germany?

BTW, I have 2 mark coin with J. Strauss, dated by 1989, and as I have mentioned also at your site and also in Krause book, in both places the first your of minting is 1990 and not info about 1989 year?! image Can you explain it?

Edited to add: O'k I saw the numismedia, and understand that there are many more countries! image

Yep, I'm going to try to cover as many countries as possible. I'm still just getting started so I figured I'd start with what I have image

Are you sure that 2 DM is Strauss (big fat head facing left)? Jaeger, the German Krause also lists that coin as starting in 1990? If you can, please post a picture of it, I'm interested!

Thanks for the kind compliments too image
  • You are welcome Spoon!

As for two marks coin I'll hope that at Friday or Saturday I'll post the picture, I promised that coin for some swap, without taking into account that stange year. If we will discover that it is something interesting I'll try to replace that coin by anothe one, and then may be . I'll send it you image or may be we'll make a suprise to Jester image I heard today that he likes error coins, could I say that it is some sort of errorimageimage

BTW, I have alos Hungarian coins with minted yearm that doesn't mentioned in Krause---I always though that it just books mistakes, as Satotoko used to say. But I'll check it and post the scan later.

Edited to add:< Jaeger, the German Krause also lists that coin as starting in 1990?>--you ask me, Spoon or you tell me it? Because I haven't Jager book and couldn't check it!

Ah, that makes sense. The 1949-1989 is how old the Republic of Germany was when the coins were first designed. All the 2DM coins have dates like that, but those datings never made sense to me. Strauss died in 1988. These coins weren't minted until 1990. So however they decided to put 1949-1989 on there and freeze it makes no sense to me!

Though, actually, the Max Planck coins had the year Planck was born and the year he died, 1858-1947. That one makes sense, the others don't.
