1949 Bowman #132 Al Evans PRINT PSA 8

I just got this card back in PSA 8 even though the holder fails to denote which version it is. This card is a very high end PSA 8 1949 Bowman #132 Al Evans PRINT Name variation it is even on MArshall Fogel's list according to the set registry. ANY Idea what its worth??image

They used to sell for about 60-90% of SMR, depending on how many people were after a master set. I would resubmit it to PSA and have them reholder it properly (at no charge) the next time you have a submission.
  • This is worth considerably more then smr i would buy every evans print or priddy variation i could get at smr they are both very difficult cards that almost all the people working or even dreaming of the set need.

Again, when I completed the set a couple years ago (252 card master in all PSA 7 or better with fewer than 10 commons raw or in other holders) there was not a high demand for the variations. They are indeed scarce. They just weren't in high demand then. It takes bothlow supply and high demand to produce high prices. If all it took were scarcity, my 1949 Bowman PCL set would have sold for over $100,000 rather than just under $10,000.

I am sorry to disappoint. But Vargha is completely true.

I have the same variation in my set. I am presently building the 1949 Bowman Master set myself.

The card that your talking about I ended up picking up for a whopping $71.
  • then i guess i should take the offer i got for over book on the card. heck i almost got $71 for the evans with a script back anyone on here have the priddy variation 1949 in an 8.

Looks like Vargha and robr1967 were wrong guess if you actually did get a script name evans in psa 8 for $71 you got a good price or the seller had no idea what he ehad.image

My actual words (emphasis added): They used to sell for about 60-90% of SMR

I fail to see where I was wrong.
  • Wow. That was a great price.

As I said, I did end up paying $71 for mine. That is what I have listed on my spreadsheet for it. I think part of the reason, I got mine so inexpensively, is that it was not listed at the time of having the printed name on back. I had to get it relabeled accordingly.

Just like the one that you just sold. It is not labeled correctly as well.

That is the major problem with the 1949 Bowman Variations. Not that many of them are labeled right. So the pop report is definitely NOT accurate in this respect.

Very nice sale Glyn. I am surely happy about it as well. I am seriously considering selling my 1949 Bowman set as well.
