Someone has consigned an NGC graded MS66RED 1935 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln cent to Andy
Skrabalak at Angel Dees. If anyone knows who the consigner of the coin is would you please ask them to contact me at

OK..I've been to this thread at least 3 times to delete it but I'm torn between the "censorship" peeps and the fact that this issue has come up in the ethical threads and has left some bad feelings in it's wake.

There is another possibility here. This poster could be the actual owner of the coin and it was stolen at one time and somehow ended up consigned to Andy. I know it's remote, but still possible.

Russ, you are correct so I will remove the assumption from my post.
I do believe if the poster was the owner of a stolen coin given to Angel Dee's on consignment he'd just speak with the company directly rather than the person who consigned it.

I've already told them to play nice what else do you want me to do?
Besides, I think it's a non-issue. No one will know if it slowed down until the show is over. Let's say 30 coins are submitted at that tier - I really don't believe it will have any effect on the the lower tiers.

Besides, I personally think they are getting worked up by a non-issue.

I think having the presence of PCGS censorship in that other thread will give greater excuse for folks to cry foul. In that case, I think silence is a virtue.

Sorry guys – this is really much ado about nothing!!! It sounds like EJ is trying to cut one of the Board's all-time favorite dealers, Andy Skrabalak, out of a commission. That is not the case.

EJ had called Andy and had discussed the coin on December 31. Andy described the coin. It really is a minor variety. I know because I own one. EJ said he would like to see it, but with a return privilege. Andy said he couldn’t promise that because he needed to return the coin to the consignor at FUN. That’s where they left it.

EJ thought about it a couple of days and decided he would like to talk with the consignor directly and ask the consignor to send it to him with a return privilege. He called Andy back to get the consignor’s name and number. Andy was not available because he was enroute to FUN.

EJ didn’t know how to get in touch with Andy because Andy is away at the FUN show, so he posted here. He would, of course, give Andy a commission if the deal went through.

Bottom line: I called Andy and told him what was going on. He laughed and told me to get in touch with EJ and let him know who the consigning dealer is. EJ will probably call him and see if he can get it sent with a return privledge.

EJ’s post was written in a way which left it open to misinterpretation. But he is really a good guy, and one of the most knowledgeable collectors of Lincoln varieties on the planet. We should encourage him to share his enormous knowledge with us on the boards.
