THANK YOU.... CCRdragon

This came in the post today along with a nice card and 17 Canadian 10 cent pieces (all with ships of course).

This Hard Times token is the only coin or token I have with a ship on both sides.

Webster 1841 and Van Buren 1837. It is also the first one I have seen where the ship had a broken mast. The marks above the ship that look like scratches are actually "lightning". I will pur a larger photo on my site and maybe it can be seen better.

Put your hands together and help me thank Cecil.........image

  • I think the pix are great - old copper is very difficult to photograph (at least that's what other people have posted on the boards).

  • I am not sure but I think the large photo on my site may show it a little better....... have a look. My site is very primitive, page 5 has my "boats" and if you click the pic you get a LARGE photo up.

I am sure others could get better photos than me but....... I am working on the methods.

  • image..... I have one, as you have seen, now if I can just learn to use it better. I am not super un-happy with my photos but the lighting needs a lot of work.

Wayne, that is an AWESOME Hard Times Token.

Cecil, have you had that a long time, or did you just win it? I saw some sold by Maineantiquetreasures recently on ebay.

  • IT is a fantastic token, Guys!! Now I realise that I need to start to put my hands into these tokens also, and not only coins with ships. Some Portuguese coins also have both sides ships, but that one really Sooper-Dooper (using LordM language).
Mike, if you'll win Charleton catalogue--I'll ask you to post some scans from there with these tokens, for future hunting...

And now, I'll try to go and see the big pic. of that token at Wayne 's site.. Sorry, but my son doesn't allow me to do it just now...
