Polish Coin Of The Week 1

As many of you know, this is the focus of my darkside interests. I'll try and post a new coin every week for your perusal.

This is a 2002 Crown commemorating the Malborg Castle. The composition is 28.28 grams of .925 silver with a ceramic inset. The diameter is 38.61 millimeters, and the coin has an antique finish. There were only 51,000 minted, and were sold out within two weeks of their issue.

Thanks John! I love this coin. In fact, I love the whole series, especially those with amber attached.

Great idea with the Polish Coin of the Week series, too!

  • Great thing, JohnZ! I have visited that Castle in 1988 (and what about you , Jester? You must see that Castle, because you'll like it!) Interesting, that I have looked then for some coins or medals there , but found only some nice badges with Malbork and its Castle, that I still have.

Thanks for showing us that piece!

Nickolai, yes I've been to that wondrous work of art. It's probably the most impressive castle I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. When I was there about 4 years ago, I found this thing between the cobblestones of the central courtyard.

    Thanks Nick!

Seriously, folks. You absolutely must see this castle. It's the best one in Europe.
