They're from the National Collectors Mint. I especially like the S mintmark, that's a nice touch!

Can you imagine what a genuine 1936 proof that looked like those would bring in the marketplace? $100K? $200K? More?

Well, the genuine ones wouldn't have "S" mintmarks, now would they? image

Wow, $130? They were selling these on teevee for $39.95, and I thought that was overpriced. They're not even silver rounds, but silver plated.

THEY INCLUDE THE WORLDS FINEST 1936 HALF DOLLAR PR67...RETAILS FOR $24,500!!!

That's pretty bad. But at least they're not overgrading.

I can't believe what they are going for. There are going to be a lot of really disappointed people out there when they find out what these are really worth.

Didja see the C.O.A. was signed by Barry M. Goldwater?

Actually P.T. Barnum never said "a sucker is born every minute," although that's how we remember Barnum. That famous phrase was actually uttered by Barnum's competitor, who was promoting the Cardiff Giant.

How long until someone issues a silver round or silver plated proof 1936 Bridgeport/Barnum commemorative? Even I would buy one of those.

A DCAM silver proof Buffalo alone would be worth that much!

I saw an image link from an earlier thread that showed a similar set with the S "mint mark." This one does not appear to have it. Were they made both ways? image
  • What do the reverses look like? Is there a big COPY stamped into it as well?
