1897 Philippine Peso

Got some new coins yesterday, among them this 1897 Philippine peso. The coin has nice toning on both sides. Anyone know anything about grading these?

Nice buy!! image I'm still searching for my own pre-1898 Philippine coin, so for now, your pic will have to suffice!

Everything I own is for sale Dave...except for my wife and kids (I might have to pay to have the kids removed)image

I just looked it up in my old Krause................

There's a REASON why I still don't have one!!image Beautiful, but not cheap! I'm not good at grading most coins (toned or otherwise), but I'd rate that a solid VF.

    What do others think?

I think I'd sell my wife and I'll throw the kids in for free. image

I picked up two of those pesos this past July. Zarit sold me one, graded VF, at $69. I purchased a second one at a Stacks (Coin Galleries) auction for $65. The catalogue graded it at EF, but I would call it VF.
As far as Philippines pieces are concerned, I had a image of a time trying to find a Commonwealth peso, but eventually did, in December.
