Expanding PSA to everyone

Well, PSA still has a growing customer base. I wanted to share part of an email that I got from a winning bidder from one of my Ebay auctions:

"Hey guys,

I got the card and it is great. I love it. Its my
first PSA graded piece.

Thank you guys so much"

I sold him a PSA 8 Adam Bomb Garbage Pail Kid. I thought it was really great to see somebody new join the growing population of graded card collectors. Hopefully another potential buyer in all of our future auctions. It reminds me of my first PSA card that I owned. It was a 1990 Leaf Sammy Sosa PSA 9. Just wanted to share that with you all.

  • Your post reminded me of the first PSA card I bought, a PSA 9 1969 Rich Nye #88. I bought it just to compare my raw 69s. I got it for about $12 or so because it is a high pop card. Of course at the time I had no idea about the registry and populations. I thought I would be able to pick up every PSA 9 common for about the same price.

Damn you Rich Nye, Damn you.

    Wabbitwax,
    My first psa card was..................

    1990 Leaf PSA 9 Sosa

It was mysteriously missing from my Leaf set that I had purchased years earlier, and I wanted a nice one to complete the set.

    Now I'm sitting on about 4 '10''s and 13 '9's.

    Nothing in moderation.

  • I believe PSA will continue to grow and grow, especially with the PSA Registry concept. What a fantastic way to draw more people in. I'm sure the brain child at PSA behind this has got pretty good job security now. My first PSA was an 85 Topps Mac RC, graded a 6 (still got it!)

My first PSA cards were my four free gradings:
    1952 Bowman Musial PSA 5
    1955 Jackie Robinson PSA 5
    1955 Ted Williams PSA 5
1964 Mantle PSA 5 - still have no idea as to why it is a 5.

I remember seeing my PSA card on E Bay. I never would have known about PSA until I found E Bay, E Bay is a great vehicle for the hobby.

  • Grading companies have done more harm than good. It has turned many collectors into snobs.
  • dhjacks... care to spare 1 of your psa 9 or 10 sosas? i've been looking for one on ebay at a decent price lately.

now that i think about it, i'm not sure if i can remember my first PSA card... quite a long time ago. i'm guessing it was a psa 7 1950 bowman ted williams about 4 years ago. i had already completed my 1950 bowman set (raw) but was intrigued by this whole 'authentication' deal with vintage cards... made sense so i went for it.

my life hasnt been the same since....

My first PSA card was a 1954 Wilson Franks Sammy White I got from Griffins. I intended to break it out so I could have it in raw form, but never got around to it.....and probably never will.
