PVC?

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who helped me with my UK 1884 Penny. It was fun & a great learning experience for me.
Now is this PVC?

I'd say not,PVC is a film on a coin and does a different sort of damage, this is probably Salt or a acid corrosion, not uncommon on copper, usually a waxy reside around it if aged. Even if removed serious damage has occured to the metal.
  • Try lighter fluid, a short soak and GENTLY rub with a Q-tip.

I agree with Boz. It's not PVC but rather some sort of corrosion, unfortunately frequently found on some old copper.

Definitely corrosion. I'm not sure if the lighter fluid can help. Especially if it has grown this much.
