I'd say AU 50, given the age of course...image
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

I'd say about 45. Some hints of luster, but enough wear to take it out of AU. Fun coin.

i did see the hairlines on the obv and only took off one grade point for it.

maybe it should be lower because of the scratches.

45 is the lowest i,d go i guess

VF35 without looking at previous responses, and that's based on the wear at the edge of the shield.

I just can't pass up those guys when I see them around. Yours is nicer than this old 53, but how often do you get to post to a trime thread.

well, Don, yours is a different subtype, without the lines around the star. I'd say they were in similar grade.

I have 4 total of these little guys, one of each I, II, and 2 of the III.

hey, mrpawn, you have a sibling of my coin!

I'd say they're in the EF realm, definitely 40 with a shot at 45

Strange how the line that looks like it goes into the coin from the upper right part of the star to the letter M seems to continue past the coin onto the holder.

Baley, I enjoy finding these little guys when they look good. Will try to get photo of a nice 1852 AU58 sometime soon.
