The great people in this hobby

Hello Everyone,
I have been reading the boards almost daily for over a year now. The information and knowledge that I have learned here has been a great help. Better than that is the quality of people who post here. Last week I sent King Kellogg and DaleW emails trying to get a line on specific Alan Trammell cards. (I'm working on a basic and Master set). They both quickly responded with information and each volunteered to mail me raw copies to get graded!

Now if that doesn't speak volumes as to the great folks here that truly enjoy this hobby. then I don't know what would. Thanks again to Dalew and King Kellogg.

    Welcome!

PS. I for one, was sad to see Trammell leave SD as a coach, but was glad to see him get a chance at managing. Classy guy. Good luck with the pursuit of his cards!
  • Welcome to the fold.........
By the way, I'm a Trammell collector as well. So is a member named AllanAllen (AllenAllan??). Nice to see another fan of this underrated player and member of one of the best double play combinations ever to play. (Trammell to Whitaker)

    Jim,
As others have mentioned, welcome aboard. I just opened a 2002 Keebler Padres set to get a card I need and noticed there is a Trammell coaches card in it. If you would like the card e-mail me your address and I'll send it out to you.

    Welcome to the boards.

Hope you have good luck in the grading of those Alan Trammell cards that I sent you.

BTW, if anyone else has any player sets that encompass the 1981 Fleer Baseball Set, let me know and I'll send you raw cards for free if I have them.

Welcome. But beware of comments like this one:

I'm proud to be associated with this group, and after a while...You will be too!!

Unless you want to be spending time in a mental institution or behind bars, you should seriously consider the repurcussions of embracing those sentiments fully.

    Welcome to the boards, Jim!
Hopefully Illitch will spend some money on the Tigers and give Tram
some decent players in the coming years. Would love to see the Tigers
in the World Series again with Trammell as Manager. Good luck with
    your collection!

    Jim,

Welcome to the boards. The guys on the board are the best! Are you just collecting Trammell right now or do you have any other sets you are collecting?

Yeah, but they have both turned to the dark side - Kellogg's? Discs? '81 Fleer? These guys must be insane! I would have to agree with Vargha. image

Seriously, Jim, welcome to the message boards. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Welcome Jim! Great to see another Tram collector on boared, and great to see all of the love for Tram in this thread. My Tram collection is taking a back seat to my football pursuits at the moment, but I still pick up a PSA 9 now and again. I would really like to upgrade my '78 Burger King though image. Take care,

    AlanAllen,
What grade is your 78 Burger King Tram? Those are hard to find in any grade; the tight wrapping around those packs really makes them a challenge. I have an unopened pack with Tram on top, but the corners are terrible...

Wow, it's great to see that there is interest in Trammell and the Tigers. I have over 700 different raw cards of Tram, he hit his prime as the card sets exploded in the mid 80's. This is what makes collecting a player from the modern age in PSA form such a pain. It's an impossible task.
I'm also slowly working on a 1975 mini set in PSA 8, a 1984 Topps Tiger set in 9's or 10's, and Kaline basic and master. I also just started a hall of famer set for my son. I seem to bounce back and forth between these sets, focus on one for awhile, and then move to another.
As far as the Tigers, I can always hope! I grew up in Detroit and now live in Florida, so I catch a lot of spring training games. As you guys know, it's impossible to give up your chilhood team. They've made some decent moves in the off-season, but it will still be tough not to lose 100 games this year...

    Jim,
My Burger King is just a 7. It has nice corners but a diamond cut keeps it from a higher grade. A Whitaker 9 sold over a year ago for $50ish - I'd guess a Tram would go for over $100.
