8K Giveaway........ winner in first post

No more entries..... I will make a random choice soon.. Assuming my Son will let me back on the puter......
Thanks to all that were interested and entered....... back soon (I hope)
THE WINNER IS............. Ajaan....... sorry I was so late.
Just so I can "pat myself on the back" I will have an 8000 post giveaway. I meant for this post to be number 8000 but I made a whoopsie on the count.
I have not decided what the giveaway will be other than it will be a minimum of 8 world coins. Now, don't get excited because I do not have such great coins to giveaway as some of the wonderful offers we have recently seen.
It will be some of the best I can find amongst my hoard and I will try and spread the locales around the world.
When I finally choose the coins I will post the list.
I only request 2 things if you wish to enter.
1. You collect world coins of circulated types and do not need primos
2. If you win you must enjoy the coins
To qualify:
Post here your interst
Tell me why your are interseted (not a real requirement, but I'm interseted myself) post and your in for the draw.
I will let this run over this weekend and I hope to have some folks "sign on". I will add photos as I pick them
The first one I picked..... not a great coin but it is from a place I don't get to very often..
edit: Please don't comment on all the typos and spelling

<< <i>I always enjoy entering a good giveaway. Tell you the truth, I enjoy most circulated coins in a nice condition more than most proofs and UNC's. There are some coins I would want only in upper grades, but most of what I collect are nice, inexpensive circulated coins. As a "several from every country collector" there's no other affordable way for me to do it. The wear on the coin and the patina the coin has developed with age are all part of the charm for me. >>
Well I sure could not have said that better. I will try and find a few that are in "better" condition, but to me it is the mystry (sp), the age, the place the coin is from and the history that gets to me.
Of course, I love some of the more costly coins but if I can't play in that league I can still enjoy......... and I do!!

Edited to add: Interesting but I thought earlier that only last centure coins from that country has such a nice coat of arms with ship. You should put the scans of that pair at site, before you'll ship them to the winner!

Number 6..... I know it is only 1/4d but I'm counting it as one coin..
The coin is darker than my photo. The rev is close to being correct.

This particular giveaway is of interest for the variety, and the countries I don't yet have. Thanks for the chance, and congrats on the milestone.

A big congrats on hitting the 8k milestone!
My response to entering your fantastic giveaway would be similar to many of the others' here..... I started out collecting US because that's all I knew. But I happenned upon the Darkside after my grandfather gave me a "roo" penny from the 40's, and have hardly looked back since!
I expanded my Darkside collection starting about a year or two ago, as a way to do something neat with my kids and get them interested in the world around them from a geo-political and historical perspective. We set out on a trek to amass a "1-per-country" collection by the end of their school year. This project has taken on a life of its own and expanded into a "1-per-phase-per-non-NCLT-per-country" collection, with side trips for interesting sub-categories.
Now, as the list of "missing" coins dwindles to just a select few expensive ones, we look for coins with "character" - - with pictures or historical events which tell us a story, or show appropriate wear, etc which leads us to question where they've been, and what they've been through.
It's been quite an education!
We've never sought out the BU's, etc, as our wallet doesn't run that deep - - all your offerred coins would fit in quite well among the others!
So, using some reverse psychology, I will ask that you not only please DO NOT enter us in your contest (which means you will have to reply that "too bad - - since we responded, we're in!"), but also please DO NOT LET US WIN!! (There... THAT should seal the victory for us!! ).
THANKS!!
- - Dave
