Home World & Ancient Coins Forum

Farewell, fine friends (sort of)

I will no longer have computer access from work except on rare occasions, due to some changes around the office (basically, the antics of a coworker of mine cost everybody else the privilege, and our Room Service Office computer terminal has been removed). I did probably 80% of my chatting on these forums from work. image

This means my presence here is likely to be quite diminished (might be a relief to some of you, LOL).

However, I will still log on from home once in a while and will still be permitted to log on from work occasionally on rare occasions when I am in the Butler Pantry- IF it's a really slow night.

Ah, heck- I suppose it just means a diminished post count. Bummer, though. Being able to surf from the office was a nice perk while it lasted. We kinda figured somebody would spoil the privilege for everyone else, eventually.

Bummer ! Was your colleague surfing porn sites? Or is the boss just grumpy?

That stinks, sorry Rob (I lost access to my Yahoo email at work because some Bozo downloaded a virus from an email service).

About the only thing my company lets me do on its internet line is check its stock price! Fair enough - there are some bozos there who should be fired for inappropriate access.

I hope your coworker is shown the door and that you come back soon, LM.

Bad news LordM! However, won't developing bluetooth technology allow you to contact the internet via common household items soon?

My incautious coworker was not doing anything so blatant as surfing porn sites- I don't think any of us are THAT stupid. His was more of a political faux pas. This was the second time he tried to go over my boss' head and email the top brass with suggestions for how my boss should run the department! The guy has an annoying habit of trying to exceed his own authority (which is zilch- he's a working grunt like me, and with less experience, too boot.)

My boss had been very tolerant and let us have Internet access during downtime, as a perk. But when that perk was used against him by one of his own employees, he understandably drew the line.

I would have drawn the line across that employee's neck! Repeat insubordination equals problem employee. Punishing the innocent never resolves the problem.
