Darksider Help for a Litesider

I found this coin in a bag of foreign coins my Uncle had collected while in the Navy. It's dated 1887, on one side (Can't tell which is supposed to be Obv and Rev) is the number "1" and around the edge says "PFENNIG" on the bottom and "DEUTSCHES REICH 1887" around the top form left to right. The other side has a bird with a shield in front of it's chest and what looks like a crown or royal crest maybe behind and above it. On the bird side, it also has two letters, which look to me like mintmarks, the letter "A" between 5 and 6 o'clock and 6 and 7 o'clock. Pictures are below.

  • This coin is from the German Empire. It was minted in Berlin and is worth less than a buck according to my 1997 Krause Catelogue.
  • Thx, I had a feeling it was German, since it said "Reich" on there, thx again!
