more large copper from the congo

I love this Chilean piece: .720 silver but it toned just like a copper.

A Bolivian 8 reales from 1799 (recut 7 in date) it's been cleaned but I don't seem to see many that aren't.

Struggling, many failures-I don't seem to be able to take a good picture of an FDC Hercule obverse for some reason. I'm going to have to get the optional supermacro lens I'm sure. But I'm having fun...image

Laurent, you have some cool coins. And the picture taking is coming along well.

Laurent you are progressing very well. It took me awhile to figure things out and I am still learning. Yes the macro lens will help some too.

They look great, the more you shoot the easier it is to get the one you want. Take at least 4 pictures of your coin 90 Degrees apart under a particular light setting,, it changes the entire image that you convey of the coin. then try it under a differtent lighting conditons to learn moreimage

Thanks for your kind comments! image

In the top right hand image (Canada .50 wolf) the only way to shoot the coin and show the true colors was to change the white balance setting back to auto. The 2 x 2 the coin is in shows yellowish now instead of white like the other images. If I shoot that coin with the white balance on, it shows virtually no color, yet with the coin in hand the colors as shown are accurate. Anyone know why...?

The most trouble I had was shooting during the day with daylight coming in from two skylights-did much better during the evening with the reveal bulbs. Bright copper coins seem to be much tougher for me than dark toned copper or bronze.image
