Since you seem to be the resident expert on '77 Topps, I thought I would ask you first. Couple of questions. I am looking at trying to find a Murphy rookie in a 10. How hard will my quest be, and
what kind of price am i looking at? Thanks for the help.

Chris - I just looked at the Pop report for curiosity's sake and just 1 card has been given the PSA-10 grade.
So if the owner of the card keeps it in his collection, then its impossible for you to own it. You may want to submit nice examples yourself or hope that the new registry special brings out more Murphy cards to the grading room...jay

    Jay,

I think you're looking at the POP for the "Eddie Murphy" card. Don't worry, it's a common mistake. (Sorry, I couldn't resist. image)

Just passing time until DGF posts a response. You can ignore this one, Chris.

  • Hey guys, thank for the posts. In the event that a 10 is out of reach, does anybody have a nice 9
that is just taking up space? If so, let me know what kind of price you might be wanting. There have
been two 9's sell in the last week and a half on ebay, both for less than 80.00. That's half of smr.
Maybe I should have jumped on them.

  • crsports,
Yes, there is a Murphy in a 10 holder. It was submitted by Louis Bollman and purchased by Mr. Young. There are many equally nice copies in 9 holders. It is basically an unattractive card to begin with. I'm not sure how nice those actually get.

If Dmitri Young still owns it, you can probably forget about ever getting it. He pretty much pays whatever it takes to get a card so I'm sure he's not interested in making a profit or ever even selling it. I've sold stuff to him and he pretty much pays more than anybody else would dream of paying. Nice guy and he keeps the card market going.
  • wabbitt,
You got that right. That card is looooooooooong gone!

This is an honest (and sort of ignorant) question. Are you talking about Dmitry Young the Major League baseball player? Scary to think what someone with a multimillion dollar yearly salary can do to the "market price" of rare and 1/1 type cards if he wants them bad enough...
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
