Information re: Proof Silver Eagles?

All, I notice a lot of interest regarding modern silver eagles. Where can I get good information regarding the proof silver eagles (why some years are more valued, mintage, interest in graded coins, etc.) Is there a collector's website? Members of my family have become interested and I need a little info before we go to the local show on Sunday (Lansing, Michigan)

Happy New Year! - Jeff

Let me start by saying the OBV is a very popular design. It is a poor mans St Gaudeins(double eagle). The values are strictly because of mintage figures for those years. There was a 1995 W made and included with the Gold Set.That is the one most collectors don't have. There were only 36,086 of them made. They have been selling for about $2,500 when you can find them.I hope this helps.I have all the proofs myself except the 1995 W.

If I'm not mistaken the GOLD eagle uses St. Gaudens design and the SILVER eagle uses Adolf Weinman's design for the obverse of the Walking liberty half dollar.
