Based on the picture, yes, it appears a 66, although the coin does not look PL. There is some chatter on the cheek but it seems to be inoffensive enough as to not warrant a lower grade. The luster is good and the fields are clean and as usual so is the reverse. The strike looks good.

Well, I trust it is pl, but not so sure about a 66. On the obverse, I see a rather visible scuff on the cheek, and the number of lines, and the overall size of them together, is disturbing for a 66. But on top of that, then there is a distinct contact mark on the chin, then you have the freckle like dots from the lip up to the eye (which if nothing else detract from the eye appeal), and there may be a contact mark on the eyebrow. The reverse has a couple of marks as well, and the "E" is barely visible, although it may be on the holder, but in any event it scares me. Very clean fields, but a little too marked up for a 66, IMHO.
i agree with PCGS, rainbowroosie and nwcs. PL and DMPL coins are virtually impossible to accurately scan or photograph. even "in hand" they take some time to get accustmed to, take from one who learned the hard way!! every imperfection gets magnified. i'd bet that the coin has an above average strike and clear reflective fields. DLRC has a good return policy, so go for it.
I wouldn't be surprised if it were correctly graded. I can see what the doubters are talking about, but I have seen plenty of coins that had minor flaws greatly enhanced by lighting, photography, etc.
All DLRC's pictures suck!! You can't tell anything from their photos, scans or whatever they use. All silver coins look the same. Almost like Superior's shots on eBay!
But as Russ says, the insert is always correct for the grade!!

YES! The visible "Ticks" on this specimen are normal. The mirror-like fields project them as such. The "Satin" appearence on the devices warrants a 66. SHARP piece!...
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?
I didn't mean to sway anyone away from this coin, and as Keets points out, DLRC has a good return policy. So far, the consensus is a ms66pl, so that should make anyone looking a little more reassured.
The problem, of course, is that it's impossible to accurately evaluate coins from photos alone.
For what it's worth, Larry Shapiro is a good friend and I've seen a LOT of his coins. He has a fondness for PLs and I would suspect that if he thought enough of this coin to put it into his set, it is most likely "all there".

Photos can be misleading. I give the photo a 64-65. The coin might well be 66, though.
We ARE watching you.

<< <i>Russ, the question was whether or not you agree with the grade assigned by PCGS. >>
Of course I agree with it. PCGS graded it. They set the standard by which all others are judged. All thinking people know that they are infallible.

I'd have to see it in person.
