Holiday bummer :(

My Lady's step mother brought out about a dozen Morgan Dollars this christmas when she found out I was a collector. She wanted me to "appraise" them lol. All pretty nice, low AU - low MS, nothing super rare. There was one 1878 8TF though in about AU58 (maybe MS60 graded by one of the less than reputable grading companies). I tried my best to aquire them from her but to no avail.....she says she isn't willing to get rid of them even though she just keeps them stashed away and hasn't looked at them in years. Bummer.

  • I kjnow how you feel. My mother-in-law did the same thing. She brought out a plastic bag containing several Peace, Morgan, Merc and Buffs for me to look at. Nice stuff, nothing too high of a grade. She too wouldn't part with anything. Back in the plastic bag and put away for safe keeping. Bummer!
  • Do you know where she keeps themimage

Before my wife and I were married, her sister-in-law brought out a box of coins for me to look at. Mainly common stuff but there was a 1901-S $5 gold piece, AU-ish grade. After showing them she put the coins back in the shoe box and took them away. When we opened her wedding gift there was the Half Eagle. It is now part of a necklace my wife has.
