I've found several nice coins made from cracked and broken dies. One of my favorites is of little value but is a 1983-P quarter with a major cud on each side. There are dozens of die cracks and some severe die gouges that appear to have been caused by pieces of the die being caught up in a strike.
I found it the same day that Coin World ran a picture of the same coin in high grade from a slightly earlier die state. Though, of course, these dies must have been deteriorating fast.
