Large dark coppers

These have been very difficult to image-very dark. Using two 60 watt bulbs with close placement and white balance. Without white balance they're much easier to see but then they're not an accurate color. At any rate, I do like coppers, and these are a few of many that I will begin to inflict on you.image

Haiti-1846 6 centimes-I can't get the obverse the same size as the reverse-don't know why...

1889 Argentina dos centavos-love the coloring

This next one is a mystery coin-a Darkside pat on the back (DPOTB) to the first correct ID. Nicely rotated reverse on this one too...

One from the land down under-I think these are a very attractive design

Last but not least a French entry-1791 1/2 Sol (lost the reverse somewhere)

  • Your mystery copper is a copper 2 paisa from the Indian state of Baroda. Looks like its dated VS 1949 (1892). My Krause only lists the grades up to XF ($3.50).

You know Tbirde, it took me two days to find that coin in Krause and you ID it in what, 10 minutes? OK, 16 minutes...

  • I'm working on an 1800+ world type set, with a few date runs thrown in, so if I haven't got it I've probably at least seen it in the catalog in my numerous uncounted perusals since the 1st edition Krause came out. imageimage

You're really getting into that cameraimage

Dark copper is a pain in the azz to photo. I still have a lot of trouble with it myself.

Actually, a lot of those look great on my monitor. Of course, my laptop is normally a bit sharper and brighter than most computer monitors. Which explains why pics that look superb to me look a bit darker and duller when people here see them...
  • Very nice coppers, I really like the one from Haiti....
