More specifically, a star note is one that was made after its original serial number note was damaged in some way during printing as to make it unreleasable...

They are cool and I always check my paper money for them...

actually, star notes are printed before the regular run of notes and are used to replace the defective pieces.

  • ....and it's easier to do that than to go back and reset the numbers. image
  • OK SO THEY WERE PRINTED EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER THEIR DATE, BECAUSE OF AN ERROR, DO THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A STAR ON THEM? HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU HAVE A STAR NOTE? THANKS
  • Yes, they do have a "star" at the end of the serial number.

i got SOOOOOOOOOOO sick of the 1999 Richmond notes E 0022 7492 * type bills i swear they made more error notes than correct ones for that bank. its harder to find correct ones than errors. what i find hard is the H* I* and J* also D* notes.

  • If you are saying like $1 bill series its a BA block B= New York and A is the first block after the star notes ( lowest numbers of the whole B blocks.

if you mean $20 bills then it can mean the 1999 series B stands for teh 2nd series of the new style. 1999 series and A is the first national bank Boston
