WOO HOO!! my first CC Morgan $

I purchased my first CC Morgan, an 1884-CC in MS63/64 from my local coin dealership... used some Christmas money to buy myself a present. Actually I had a choice between an 1884-CC toned pale yellow in MS65-ish for $330 or the MS63/64 no toning for $169. The non-toned coin looked so much better I really couldn't figure out why the toned one was so much more expensive apart from the (marginally) better grade.
Anyway, I'm thrilled and will try to post a picture when I learn how to do that...

Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Dollardude is quite right. The first is always the one you'll remember. There are those collectors who for whatever reason prefer the toned coins, and are willing to pay a premium for them.I do believe in this case though it was the higher grade.Collect what you like.

My first CC Morgan is a 1884, too. Mine resides in an old green rattler as an MS60--This sucker is an upgrade canidate, I just haven't taken the time to send it in, but it should be a 63. Some of my MS64 Morgans have more bag marks and scratches! I purchased it back in the 1980 for about fifty bucks.

My first Carson City Morgan was an 1890. The coin is not graded but I recieved from one of my grandparents so it does not really matter to me if it is graded or not. Either way I will always cherish it.

What grade was it before he looked at it?

I thought it was EF. It was a pleasant surprise to find out I was wrong.
it is with any doubt an AU coin. i just wonder why everyone feels compelled to get a tpg.

David was giving free grading opinions at the show and I was there with the coin. I'll take anything for free.
If anyone has a nice 1880-CC in about MS63, please PM me. This is the last one I need to complete my CC's!
