Ajaan's last giveaway (thank you kind sir) was a coin with "some kind of toning", which turned out to be something I don't recall seeing before. Here it is:



Lizzy's side is essentially untoned, with a nice mirror.



The Canadian Mint's presentation box used a black plastic coin holder, nested in a red plush lining, which doesn't seem to have affected the coin, but they also inserted a piece of urethane in the case, and the toning pattern looks like it came from the foam.

Roy - I have the exact same condition on two of my cased dollars, the foam insert is the cause - I wonder what happens over more time - will it become more uniform?
