Why isn't Frank and Sons show listed in Beckett?

This is the first month in forever that the Frank and Sons Wharehouse show isn't listed in the Beckett either under listings or have a large ad. Is it still there? Also, last I heard it was becoming more of a swap meet than card show, with different vendors selling porn, parrots, etc. Anyone from the So.Cal area have any info to share?

  • I used to go when I was more of a baseball card show back in the late 90s. I've heard that it's more of a swap meet now, but I haven't been back in a few years. I'd love to find out as well how it's doing these days and if it's worth the trip up from San Diego on a weekend.

I have been to Frank and Son's back in the early 90's when they were at their old place. They moved to a larger facility in the mid 90's. While it was primarily a sportscard wholesale type venue every Saturday morning and Wednesday evening, it gradually included other collectibles. Once they did move to a larger facility, you saw hot wheels, comics, star wars figures, transformers, etc along with the baseball card dealers. Many dealers were regulars there.

Unfortunately, I have not been there in awhile. My friend is urging me to go with him again for old times sake. I want to take him up on that offer. I will write a journalistic take on my visit there as soon as I go.

  • KarlMalonesay, and others, it's true, it's becoming more like a swap meet. The sick part is that there's one booth devoted to machine paint ball guns- in the same row where comic books are sold! I used to go monthly, but now, I go once in a while to buy packs that are cheaper than the shops, but for singles- forget it, I go to a well-stocked shop or NAXCOM shows. Hell, I used to send 3 hours there , now I go through the show thrice in 1 hour. Yah, they also now sell DVD's, handbags, Yugi-oh! The number of card dealers have dwelled to about 20 or so.

Marya Sport cards can be found at Frank and Son's as well as on ebay. Some card dealers can still be found there, although a lot of other junk dominates the show now.
