First digital shot

image

Oversharpened (now that I really see it), free hand without a mount or the lights I need but I really wanted to see at least one result after 3+ hours with Cosmics old camera. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it (crudely). The pic doesn't really bring out this coins great colors but it's starting to.image

Pretty good photo for a first freehand attempt.

If you decide you want a copy stand, let me know. I have a friend who makes very simple, straightforward and effective stands. In fact, all our website photos are made using his stand, save for very few where a scanner was used. The best part is they are very inexpensive. image

Edited to change "In face, all out website photos" to "In fact, all our website photos" Sigh. Where's that damned coffee.

Thank you for the kind words-please don't hesitate to critique anything about these attempts-I am really not that computer literate and need to learn, learn, learn!image

Edited to add: Josh, thanks for the offer-I will let you know...

    Not a bad photo!

Toughest part is getting proper lighting. How about trying to take a few shots outside in natural sunlight? Tha's where LamminL's best work is done.

Laurent, nice shot! You might want to try that coin with a cream or off white background and see how it turns out. I had the wife get 4-5 differing colors of material at the fabric store but I haven't had a chance at experimentation just yet!! Keep it up. image
