Here is an awesome multiple struck Jefferson. It was struck five times and also flipped over between strikes. You can't get much cooler then this.image

Very cool! So far, I only have 2 nickel errors. One is a major lamination that has already peeled off but I haven't taken a pic of it. This is the other. 1940S. Nice AU.

I've actually been able to cherrypick a few nickel errors out of circulation over the years- and some of the coins were dated in the '40's and '50's, though not AU like Neil's example, there. I've found quite a few clipped planchets, and even one piece that had 3 clips on it! Found some cuds and laminations, too.

I guess the days of being able to do that are drawing to a close- when they change the design, people will start paying closer attention to the Jeffs in circulation, I guess.

I'm with BigE---five strikes and not one faint overstruck date left on it.

  • I agree too bad there's no date, but spectacular just the same.
