The one item that sticks out it my mind for 2003 is the discovery of the missing 1913 Nickel!

  • I've learned that there are really only a few great coins for sale in most series at any one time, so when you find one don't get too hung up on price. Pay a little more for a great coin vs average, sometimes a lot moreimage

    Me too. I used to put a lot into the grade, but now I'm more interested in slabs for authentication purposes and look
    at the grade as only an approximate guide toward the price I should pay.

    I learned the same thing that I have learned last year and the year before. Quality over quantity is a universal numismatic constant.
  • Do NOT buy raw coins from the big mail order dealers in coin publications !!!
  • I have learned to read a seller's description completely and looking the coin up in the grey sheets before bidding!
