    Hi Allen,

As an eBay bidder (and seller), and a board member, I would like to address #3 (as I have no knowledge of most of the other items). If you place an auction with a low starting bid without a reserve price, you take your chances that the item you are selling will be noticed and popular enough to get what you consider to be a fair bid!

Many bidders will toss in a low bid early on, just to get your auction on their bidding page to keep an eye on it. Very frequently, the REAL bids don't show up until the last few minutes of the auction. Bidders don't want to start a bidding war early on and drive the price up early! It's a common practice!

By ending your auctions early, you may very well have lost some significant sales! (Or saved yourself from a significant loss, but you'll never know now, will you!)

I'll bet the people who were watching your auctions, and/or bidding on them are as perturbed as you are, and will probably NOT bid on your auctions again!

If you don't want to run the risk of losing money on eBay, start your auctions with an openning bid that you would be willing to sell at!

This was meant to be constructive criticism, and NOT in any way meant to be insulting. Take it however you will and have a Merry Christmas!

So just what in the hell do you mean that you, my friend, with whom I have shared many moments, that you are taking your leave soon? We have unfinished business! Where do you think you are going? I CANNOT believe that YOU a service man would surrender to anyone! These people have not and WILL NOT MAKE ME RUN-in fact, quite the opposite is true. I have become friends with many of them.... all except for one to whom I extended my hand , AS A MAN, in a gesture of peace just yesterday after being attacked by him and retaliating asa reflex, who chose to ignore me. I forgive because it benefits ME or else everyday that goes by I allow this person to affect me...AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN ! I will not be bullied! I was called a liar-scammer-thief...was told this Charity that THEY call "The Boom Foundation" would never fly! I like being told "You can't do that...it'll never work", it only makes me more driven! EVEYONE can see the results of OUR CHARITY in the Coin Swap Forum. IT DID WORK BECAUSE THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE HERE! The ones throwing stones will one day be repaid...their day will come! Coccckney at least had the guts-the MANLINESS to ask forgiveness which I did not hesitate to grant him. We are now on friendly terms. In turn, whenever I inadvertantly hurt someone, I TOO, asked for forgiveness and was granted it...I am speaking of Mr. Kiefer and Mr. Katz, both of whom I have utmost respect for....SO MY QUESTION TO YOU SIR REMAINS THE SAME..."JUST WHERE IN THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING? You need to remember some of the things you shared with me and NEVER SURRENDER....NEVER! Remember John Paul Jones' words? " I regeret that I have but one life to live as I have not YET begun to fight!" Do not allow the actions/the words of a few , make you surrender...that's a bunch of horse $#!+. You get your A$$ back in here and fight like a man-the man I have come to know! So far as bidding goes I know that IO wait until the last possible moment to bid and win so as to keep the price down. As long as you've been around you should know the game even better than I !!!

I do not want to degrade, or piss off anyone, but here are my 2 cents worth

coin sales on eBay are hit/miss

you can not expect to make money on every coin

some coins surprise you (both ways - today I sent a coin that got $50 more than I thought and another the buyer pd $4 including shipping (hated to see that one go)

I had a set of nickels that were on for 7 days - was about $35 with 15 hrs to close - slowly drifted up - around $100 with 2 hrs to go - closed at $160 - $50+ bump in last minute

buyers (both collectors and buyer/sellers) in the coin division are becoming increasingly savy

many do this now -> put on watch list and follow the activity
have a sniper program to put in last bid OR
watch close and decide to pull the trigger or not

one of the reasons is they do not want other people searching on what they are bidding on - another is they have a good idea of a very particilar 'niche' - where they know other bidders and values

if you piss off your buyers, you LOSE - because they will skip your auctions

selling a $20 for $3 every once in awhile is probably good PR - just don't do it asll the time

make sure when you are buying a $20 coin, that it is a $20+ coin, not a $3-5 coin

good luck - a tough nut to crack with eBay fees, PAYPAL fees, shipping costs

have you tried buying on Yahoo -> selling on eBay? - works well for some items

if your PCGS PR67 DCAM had awesome colors, I did not see it - work on digital photography skills

Some eBay buyers are buying for local/national show sale - do NOT let it bug you that they bought a coin from you for $20 and sold it at the show for $100+

the national show has a few thousand $$$ in costs associated with it that selling on eBay does not have

    GOOD LUCKimage

Good evening Allen. I've purchased several coins from you, including a POP 1 and have been VERY pleased in all our transactions. Your coins have been very nice for the grade and priced very reasonably. I placed some bids on your coins as markers and would have paid more at the end. I don't have any room on my watch list because of my wife's hobby. You have always been pleasant to deal with, and helped me out with Leo(BIG loser that has #1 platinum sets) in getting a refund 6 months after the fact. I have a high degree of respect for oyu. I think your E-bay comments were a little overboard and have learned from your mistakes. I still intend to buy coins from you as needs dictate. I hope others will forgive you also. Cheer up and have a Merry Christmas and a great day too! Ray

Hey, I'll jump on the Bandwagon here! I only bought one coin from him, but it was a smooth transaction though! And I have discussed coins ect with him via PM and I find Allen to be a standup guy in all my conversations and dealings with him!

Cut him some slack as to these auctions and give him a chance next go around.

  • I have dealt with Allen, on a number of occasions. He is very customer oriented.
I am very pleased on the number of times we have done a transaction. He is very fair, and packs his coins with extreme care. Maybe he does a few too many ttt's on his lots. That really doesn't bother me.
On a closing note, I hope everyone had a good Christmas!

    Happy Holidays,
    Sam

I have never completed a deal with you, Allen, and I know people cancel auctions all the time because deals are struck on the side, but if you don't put a reserve or a higher starting bid on something, don't get upset at the general populace because you tried to save a few pennies on fees.
