PeePal Kwettun?

How long does it take to transfer funds from a CC to your PeePal account to generate an existing balance? Is it real quick or like the 3-4 days from a checking account?

  • why do you want a paypal balance? if you had a purchase - just pay for it through paypal and it is instantaneous - if you had a few, probably want to limit it to a couple a day ?

I don't want a balance. I have someone trying to pay ME using a CC and I flatly absolutely unequivocally refuse to upgrade my personal account to accept it. My suggestion to him was to transfer from his CC to his account to generate an existing balance; THEN he can pay me. Methinks he must not have gotten my drift cuz the dumb $hit tried to pay again the same way. If it warn't Christmas I would tell him to learn to READ.

I understand now - if you have him transfer from his checking account - to his account it will work, as long as he does not spend it before he sends it to you

will probably take a week now because of holiday

I am not sure if you can just do a cash advance straight to your paypal account - another option is for you to start a 2nd paypal account for cc and people like this

This would be fine but you can't take CC payment for real low payments. I would think $50 or above transactions would work?

On a couple dollars or less the paypal fee is almost that much, doesn't leave you with much money. And, paypal charges you the fee whether or not your buyer uses credit card. image

Which is precisely why I don't accept credit cards through PayPal and, like BAJJERFAN, refuse to upgrade my account to do so. If they only charged fees for credit card transactions, I'd have no problem accepting them. I'm used to fees on credit cards since I accept them in my regular business.

But I'm not giving them a slice on cash transactions. It's the only situation anywhere where one has to pay fees to accept real money.

Actually I am the second account. My daughter has a premier account but when she sells on eBay she always directs payments to be made to my personal account and also states that credit card payments CANNOT be made to this account. Between the two of us we cover all of the bases. However there is usually a bidder who can't/won't read the terms and wants to pay by CC anyway. As a last resort she can always take his CC payment to her account but thats her call not mine.

I wonder if the person has a second e-mail address they can open a second paypal account then use the credit card to pay their other account then transfer the balance to you.
Might work unless paypal would have a problem with it.

I would think that a person can freely transfer funds back and forth between their CC accounts and their PeePal accounts just like you do with checking accounts but since I don't have a CC tied to my account I don't know for sure, WHICH is why I asked in the first place. I would think if you can pay someone else's PeePal account with a CC then you can just as easily pay to your own. The nice thing about my suggestion to the bidder was that it puts the onus of the fee on the CC user where it belongs. The CC user should pay the fee for the convenience of using the card not the one who accepts it, but that is just my opinion on the matter.

PayPal requires an I.Q. above 60. That seems to be limiting to some people! image

You mean the "giant sucking sound" that H. Ross Perotski referred to was not the sound of jobs being lost to Mexico but instead was the sound of the conception of the infamous PeePal?

  • If you do over $4000 a month through Paypal you can get the lower (merchant?) rate. I believe it is 2.1 % which to me is worth it considering you might lose this sale because this person won't be able to figure out how to pay you without a credit card. When you run a business (or sell something) it costs money to do so. The best thing to do when selling items is consider the 2-3% Paypal fee in the opening price.

2.1% of $1000 transaction is $21, seems fair to me since you might miss this sale because the person can only use a credit card.

It cost money to make money in this world.

    Jason,

That's fine and dandy for you big-time wealthy dealers, but for those of us who lose money on every sale, fees just add salt to the wound.

I don't think you can use a CC to put money in PayPal... that would be a cash advance... NOT good.

Tell them to either draw up money from a bank account, get paid, or send you a check/MO... I had a buyer who, after the third time I refused his CC payment, finally sent a check... and I made it clear in the auction and emails that I DON'T take credit cards image

You can't transfer money from a credit card into your balance, only to buy an item.
