There is a fantasy novel by Brian Jasquez about an alternate universe where badgers are the dominant species and run England. They are warlords. If you think I am joking, here is the link. link to the Scifi bookclub
We are hopeful that during the holiday season , Carol will allow us gentlemen to take a few more liberties and allow for some levity. Afterall, it is Christmas, and the smaller mammals must be given their due.
While on a hunting trip out west. My buddy actually bought a stuffed Prarie Dog. His front room is full of beautiful mounts but when someone new comes through the door they head right over to the dog. You don't see to many of them mounted. I should have bought one myself back then. Tom

Sorry vrtech99, Maybe my last post shouldn't have been. But from the standpoint of the mount, there's alot of people who never seen or heard about what a prarie dog is. He does go into a explanation of what part of the country they are in and the basics of habitat and general living habits. Here in the midwest(IL) most people have never seen one and to them it's a learning experience. Tom

Just playin with ya Bubba...It's all good!!!!!!!!!!
I've heard great things about Jasquez's series, but I've never read them, sad to say. I've always had a penchant for the small critters. In a SF fantasy role-playing game "some" years ago, I had a unique race I created that was a cross between meerkats and lemurs. I wanted to develop an alien race with a really unique psychology and technology rather than one that was just humans in wolves/lions/bears/etc. clothing and raised up on two legs and given opposable thumbs.
<< <i>Makes me long for the spring days when these critters will be running in my sights. Nothing like a good day shooting these things. >>
DB, they actually have hunts out here in Colorado, and the farmers pay for the hotel rooms and food for the hunters...It's a big weekend of shooting...the tree huggers of course are raising hell, but so far they keep having it every year!!!
I was one of the "nuts" who use to travel to Mobridge, SD for a week of shooting. We use to pay for a guide to take us out on the Indian reservations and find the towns. Just to much land out there to find them ourselves. Use to go twice a year(spring and fall). Had custom guns, ect. the whole nine yards. Came close to gettin bitten by a rattler a couple of times. One time it was one step away. Never walk with the muffs on was my quote of the day after that. I miss doing it but the orginal group of people who started going out there slowly changed and it never was as fun as the first 6 years or so. Have the vidoes and pics as reminders. Also a big smile when we reminess. Tom
