Is this a clashed die?

I am not sure if this is a clashed die on this Roosie. I included in the last photo a dime that I have that is an obvious clashed die, but is the first coin shown in the first 2 photos a clashed die? I don't see any reeding on this clash.

  • I don't see anything that would indicate a clashed die. There is ,however, obvious doubling present.

  • It looks like there may be evidence of a collar clash present. (When the obverse die strikes the collar die it can leave that arc clash that makes the rim appear to be doubled.)

I agree Condor, but wouldn't there be evidence of the reeded edge like in the third photo. Just wondering why the clash left an un-reeded rim. Thanks for the reply.

  • It does look like there is a little evidence of reeding in the clash, possibly the diference between clashing against a shrp new collar die and an older worn one?
