Guess the grade - ANACS 2¢

This one came home from ANACS today. Try your hand if you'd like at the grade and color designation. Sorry for the dark reverse image, but there is nothing hidden in the shadows.

BTW - I didn't ask ANACS to identify the die variety, but there's a nice cud at 10:00 obverse, and the weakness of the D in United is pretty interesting. The die was re-cut for the M in America as well. Interesting coin.

What's with the "D" in United?

Check out a Vanguard Roth IRA.
Bill, the weak D is pretty interesting. My guess is a filled die. More interesting to me is the re-punched M. The cud at 10:00 is common to several varieties. I'll have to research the die cracks to see which particular one it is. There is also some nice strong doubling on the reverse (particularly States).

How's the luster?
A great coin to talk about, with cuds, die cracks, filled dies, repunching......you name it, it's going on with this coin.

Where's the quadruple strike?
I think you're right. I've been mapping the die cracks and looking at Longacre's attribution till I'm going blind. The coin has better luster than the pics indicate. I suppose there wasn't enough remaining red for the designation, but it's one of those tweeners that could really go either way. There is a nice streak of color on the obverse at 6:00 in the planchet. I'd hate to think how much use the dies got during the war. Thanks for the comments.

Again, neat coin, eye appealing, and a worthy coin for many conversations about different aspects of numismatics.
Thank you for sharing.
