Grade the 50 D Jefferson

Is this a key to the set? It is full steps and I know you can't probably tell by the pic. What kind of grade do you think it would get?

EDIT: These pics are just not showing up well. Maybe someone can give a good guess, maybe not.

  • 65 can't see the steps. The large nick on the shoulder and the dull luster keep it from 66
  • Looks like a 66 but PCGS is a stickler for dings on the collar and shoulder....MS65 from the picture. Nice coin.....the hair lines are very strong. 50/50 .
    NICKEL TRIUMPH...
  • Since it's free to guess, I'll give it a 65 even though I can't see it that clearlyimage

Thanks guys, the coin is not bright and shiny and I am trying to get a close up shot of the steps. So far not any good but will keep trying different combo's with this camera.

65 or possibly 66. If Jefferson's jaw is clean...(hard to tell from the scan) then 66 if not 65. Full Steps? can't tell from the scan but doesn't appear likely from what is visible.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

    Ms-65 Non FS

Technically considered by many as a key date in the past, though, IMO since surpassed by the 39-d even in lower grades, but hardly worth noting as so many exist is mintstate. In fact this coin is easier to find in ms than circulated due to the thousands being hoarded from day one, especially after the presss release indicated a low mintage.
