1902 GB 1/2 penny-grade VS opening bid

I am assuming this 1/2 penny is XF45 or slightly higher (to AU?) with a Krause value of $18 UNC-given the popularity of 1902's and the market in general, was the opening bid just too much of a stretch in this case?

1/2 penny

Firstly, Krause is a non-factor with pricing UK anymore. Also, consider that even the prices for the 2004 Spinks are already 6 months behind the current market....that said, the 1/2d. looks to be a string gEF per Brit stds. and a nice AU55 or so from the PCGS market grading perspective. What does Spink '04 give as a value for and EF specimen?

I don't have my Spink at work-will check when I get home though. I almost bid on this one but I'm trying very hard not not make any compromises on assembling a 1902 set.

Concerning the set; are you including gold or just the copper/silver issues?

Anyone else seeing the pics at Heritage or is it just me? I'm a "blind" man.

The pics hesitated, then showed. Excluding gold for the time being, until my genius finally bursts forth and makes me a ton of money!

1902 1/2 penny Spink GB EF $5GB-must be why-UNC is at $30GB. Yet I rarely see 1902 pennies or 1/2 pennies on e-bay- where are they?

Wybrit has a few red unc. rolls of those '02s laying around......Lloyd and wyb could comment much better than I, but it would seem a 6-fold difference in price from EF to Unc. says they are definitely quite common in grades below full unc. image

....and, I only have one 1902 halfpenny.....scouts honor! image

    No low tide halfpenny. image

I recently sold the last 1902 penny I had. I do see them around quite bit in BU and UNC. The halfpennies are tougher to get (as you can see, my example isn't the best). EF and below are very common for both. The low tide halfpenny is tough in any grade. I don't have one because I am holding out for an AU or better.

A comment on the one listed: it is at least AU. Maybe a trace of wear on the obv. Certainly worth close to $15 but I wouldn't bid higher than that.
